Tax Credits
You may be qualified to get extra tax credits to help pay for some of your childcare costs while you are working. How much you get will depend on your income and how often you pay for childcare. For more information, visit Childcare Choices.

Childcare Vouchers
Childcare vouchers are a scheme some employers offer to help working parents save on registered childcare costs. With childcare voucher schemes, you exchange part of your salary (up to £55 per week or £243 per month) for childcare vouchers of an equal amount. In doing so, you make a saving (up to £933 per year) as you do not pay tax or national insurance on contributions into a childcare voucher scheme. If this is something that you think may work for you, you will need to act quickly as Employer based childcare voucher schemes are been phased out. In April 2018, you will no longer be able to join or re-join a childcare voucher scheme.
However, if you are already part of one at that date, you can continue to use it until you decide to leave or your children no longer qualify. The childcare voucher scheme is been replaced by the tax-free childcare scheme, which launched in early 2017.
If you are already receiving childcare vouchers (or your employer offers them), then it might be a good idea to read Childcare Vouchers vs. Tax-Free Childcare to see which one would be better for your family. Note: In April 2018, you will no longer be able to join a childcare voucher scheme.

Tax free childcare
The tax-free childcare sheme was introduced in January 2017 to help parents with the cost of childcare. It will be available to all parents by September 2017. To qualify, parents will have to be in work, earning just over an average of £50 a week and not more than £150, 000 per year. For more information and to apply visit Childcare Choices. If you are eligible, the government will top up any payments you make into your childcare account by 20%, up to a total of £10, 000. This is the equivalent of up to £2, 000 support per child per year.
